Blu Ray Disc

Blu Ray disc

Blu-Ray is now the standard HD DVD format, and the end of the format war has meant that studios can confidently release movies on Blu-Ray (and consumers can confidently buy Blu-Ray deals) in the knowledge they won't be phased out or superseded - not for a while yet, anyway.

Since 2006 there has been a steady stream of movie releases on Blu-Ray, from new releases to classic movies and remasters of music video collections and performances. There have of course been some trend-setters - Iron Man became the fastest selling Blu-Ray disc in September 2008, only to be knocked off the top by the release of The Dark Knight in December 2008, which sold almost 3 million copies in a day, around 600,000 of those on Blu-Ray. The 1000th movie to be released on Blu-Ray was a somewhat tamer affair, 'Pinocchio, the Platinum Edition'from Walt Disney. See below for stockists of Blu-Ray discs - more Blu-Ray deals coming soon.
